SEYMOUR DUNCAN SIGNATURE PICKUPS

Co-designed by amp designer Jeff Diamant (Diamond Amps and Diamond Guitars founder) and Seymour Duncan, the DD-1 Diamond Hole-shot pickup is aggressive, high output, but clean and smooth. The DD-5 Diamond 4-Stroke neck pickup is classic, round and warm. Made for us by Seymour Duncan's USA Custom Shop, these are consistently among our Players' favorite of our pickup choices.

SIGNATURE SERIES SEYMOUR DUNCAN DD-1 HOLE-SHOT (BRIDGE)

signaturesdpickups-bridge.jpg

The DD-1 Bridge pickup is a fully even EQ allowing you much more control of your tone in the amp, where it should be. It gives you a decidedly full range on the EQ band, which also gives a tight low, plenty of growl, but stays warm and even. Even better, no matter how hot you run it, this pickup stays listenable and pleasant and you will never feel like you’re lacking anything. This pickup rolls off with the best of them allowing for fantastic mid-tones with volume knob roll-back.

SIGNATURE SERIES SEYMOUR DUNCAN DD-5 4-stroke (neck)

signaturesdpickups.jpg

The DD-5 Neck pickup is, well, a modified 59. This pickup, similar to our N9C, was designed to be a bit hotter, a bit less “feedbacky” and a little more “modern” than the classic 59 style. This pairs extremely well with the DD-1 and has a similar EQ to the classic 59 style, but is also engineered for a little more clarity than its historical counterpart as well. The 4-Stroke, like the engine, represents a refinement to the traditional way that results in greater performance, and more elegance.

DIAMOND CUSTOM PICKUPS

Diamond Guitars spent countless hours refining their signature custom pickups. With its background in high-end custom amplification with years of developing some of the finest amplifiers in the world, Diamond's approach to pickups takes a much more integrated testing mindset realizing that the pickup is a part of the whole rig, not just a discreet component. Our pickups are optimized to get the best performance from your amplifier by paying very particular attention to the frequencies and shape of the output of the pickup.

R15 (BRIDGE)

diamondpickups (bridge).jpg

The R15 Bridge pickup originally began, years ago, as what was historically known as our DBZB Bridge pickup. This pickup was an amalgamation of a few of Jeff’s historical favorites but with improvements to each. For starters, it’s nice and hot - nearly 16K. And it’s full with plenty of lows. Unlike some similar ones, the low frequencies are not too overpowering or “boomy” so it stays tight on the low with plenty of fullness. It’s got plenty of highs without being too “shrieky” or “shrill”, and stays full in the mid for cutting through the mix. This pickup has a soft and playable feel, but growl without having to fight for it. The R15 served as the basis for our Signature Series Seymour Duncan DD-1 Hole-Shot bridge pickup.

R15S (BRIDGE)

r15s pickup.jpg

The R15S is the sister to the R15. Specs and designs stayed the same, but the magnet grade was changed, which varied the EQ and gives this pickup more of that modernized-shred feel and tone. EQ stays similar, but the pickup reduces in mids for clarity and retains the output needed to drive the amp the way you need it. Whether you’re hotter on the gain, or lower gain for more modern or even djent tones, the R15S can deliver. Great at any volume without being harsh.

R16 OCTANE SERIES (BRIDGE)

r16-octane-bridge.jpg

The R16 Octane Series gets its name because this series has the feel of octane-fueled horsepower. This series comes with both the bridge and neck versions and clearly has that “some like it hot” feel. The bridge pickup starts with a stepped-up R15 to well over 16K output and has that Seymour Duncan Distortion feel and tonal spectrum. This version comes only on limited models. It has a very nicely balanced eq, tons of growl and saturation, but retains clarity through a moderate roll-off of the low frequencies as well so it can please even the most demanding picking dynamics.

R11 (BRIDGE)

r11.jpg

The R11 is Diamond’s more “vintage” sounding pickup. It generally shares the same EQ and tonal properties of the R15, from which this pickup originates. The R11 began with the specs of the R15, and then is wound down to the more vintage mid-output 11K DCR, which gives it the vintage feel customary from older pickups. That being said, it’s extremely versatile. The R11 can provide the vintage tones, but you can also ramp up the gain and create rock tones similar to the lower-output Screamin’ Demon.

N9C (NECK)

n9c.jpg

The N9C Neck pickup is, like the signature-series DD-5, a modified 59. This pickup was designed to be a bit hotter, a bit less “feedbacky” and a little more “modern” than the classic 59 style. This pairs extremely well with the R15 and has a similar EQ to the classic 59 style, but is also engineered for a little more clarity than its historical counterpart as well. The N9C and R15 combo has that fantastic balance that players usually get through the ever-popular JB/59 set.

N10C OCTANE SERIES (NECK)

r16-octane-neck.jpg

The N10C Octane Series gets its name because this series has the feel of octane-fueled horsepower. This series comes with both the bridge and neck versions and clearly has that “some like it hot” feel. The neck version of pickup set was newly designed by Diamond to pair with the R16 Bridge to have that Seymour Duncan Distortion “set” feel and tonal spectrum. This version comes only on limited models. It has an eq similar to the R16 bridge, with a healthy 13.3K DCR output to match the hotter R16. The N10C provides more modern, heavier neck tone that can provide more traditional bell-like tones as well as fluid, higher-gain solo tones.

BALINESE (NECK)

balinese.jpg

The Balinese was named after the ZZ Top song by the same name given that it was modeled after similar tones. For comparison sake, one may compare it similarly to a Texas Special for the same reason, but well improved and with enhanced design. The Balinese produces the sought-after warm, vintage tones, but still provides the ability to “dirty-up” when you want it. This pickup provides a very balanced output with extraordinary dynamics. It is a favorite among our single-coil players and fans.
